A little bit of history

In Canada, the firm's roots go back to 1840. Since that date, more than 115 predecessor firms in communities across the country have joined forces to create what is now KPMG LLP (Canada). Internships/co-ops/programs
KPMG’s innovative campus programs allow them to attract top talent from campuses across the country. Here are some highlights:
KPMG’s Summer Internship Program offers hands on experiences to provide you with a kick start to your career. The most important thing about KPMG’s summer intern program is the rotational aspect. This means spending half of your internship in an audit industry group and the other half in another area of the firms: advisory, tax, campus recruitment, diversity… the list goes on. Whether you are at a client engagement or playing ultimate frisbee with your fellow summer interns, this opportunity will mean amazing development opportunities and fun. Find out what a day in the life of a summer intern at KPMG is like.
The Global Internship Program is an amazing opportunity that students who have accepted a summer internship opportunity with KPMG are eligible to apply for. The program gives exceptional students the opportunity to spend four weeks working at one of KPMG’s member firms around the world. Global Interns get the chance to participate in local culture, learn local business practices, and come home with a memorable story to share.
KPMG’s Co-op Program provides university students with the opportunity to develop your career while you finish school. You will have exposure to a variety of service lines, get client engagement exposure, support to volunteer in your community and receive amazing training sessions from senior management. This foot in the door is a great way to build relationships, expand your skills and make an impression early. For more information check out what a day in the life of a co-op at KPMG is like.
KPMG’s Ace the Case Workshop and Competition is a unique opportunity to learn how to plan, write, present and debrief a case. The workshop is designed for commerce students with a long-term interest in pursuing a Professional Accounting designation. The 2013 Winning National team will represent Canada at the KPMG International Case Competition in Madrid, Spain!
Diversity
Respecting the diverse backgrounds, talents and contributions of people creates a culture where everyone can succeed. KPMG is consistently ranked as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Diversity and Canada’s Best Employers for New Canadians.

Degrees they like
Most people who come to work for KPMG obtain their CA, which means acquiring a certain number of specified university or college course credits, passing a series of professional examinations (including the UFE) and articling for a few years at an accounting firm or licensed CA training office. You’ll probably have a business degree (BBA, or a B.Comm, or a Business Administration degree). They do hire a few select students from various master’s programs to their growing Advisory practice but your best bet is an undergraduate business degree with an accounting focus.
