The leader in chiropractic education since 1906, National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) is respected worldwide for success in balancing healing arts and science with broad-scope integrative medicine and patient-centered care.

Since its inception, National University has blazed new trails by continuously raising its admissions requirements and academic standards.  This heritage continues today as the institution brings that same educational excellence to its programs in chiropractic medicine, naturopathic medicine, acupuncture, oriental medicine, massage therapy, and more.

NUHS has locations in Illinois and Florida. All degree programs are offered at the main Lombard, Illinois, campus near Chicago. Only the doctor of chiropractic medicine program is offered at the St. Petersburg, Florida, site near Tampa.

All programs at NUHS have a strong foundation in basic science and prepare students for jobs in the real world of health care. NUHS degree programs focus on integrative medicine — training its graduates to work either in private practice or as colleagues with professionals from other specialties in hospitals, clinics or other integrated medical settings.

National University offers several interactive Visit Days and Student for a Day programs throughout the year in both Illinois and Florida. Prospective students can also schedule personal tours through the NUHS Office of Admissions. Call 1-800-826-6285 or visit www.nuhs.edu to schedule a trip today.

What makes them unique

National University is one of only two campuses in the United States to combine all of the above listed programs on the same campus. In addition, students from different specialties study and work together in the university's integrative medical clinic. NUHS believes that experts in different medical specialties should work together, instead of compete with each other, in order to reach a higher standard of patient care. Because of this, NUHS is fast becoming the premier destination for those seeking degrees in alternative medical fields.

Research opportunities

National University offers research fellowships and residencies to qualified students. In addition, evidence-based practice is integrated into all program curriculums. The NUHS  Department of Research has received over $7 million in federal grants for research in science and health, and has promulgated important research findings for professions represented on its campus. The university also publishes the three scientific research journals for the chiropractic profession.

Getting a job

Doors are opening for those with chiropractic medicine, naturopathic medicine, acupuncture and oriental medicine degrees due to increased consumer demand for more natural and conservative heath care. NUHS grads work in an increasingly wider variety of settings including private practice, sports medicine, hospitals, integrative care clinics, veteran's hospitals, research, education, and more.
