The Manager General Operations develops and implements the strategic and mid term tactical plan for the operational needs of the functional area, and ensures the required resources, equipment and facilities necessary to achieve operational targets and measures. This position is responsible for managing mainline staff and operations both above the wing and below the wing in the 4 Maritime C Stations (YQM/YFC/YSJ/YYG), and is also responsible for providing operational oversight and support for YHZ. 

  • Actions and maintains multi level and multi directional communications with key internal and external interfaces and ensure total product delivery.
  • Proactively maintains an awareness of developing operating constraints to ensure the best station plan or solution is delivered
  • Anticipates, identifies, and resolves safety, service and operational problems with a focus on safety.
  • Ensures that valid day-of-flight opportunities, constraints and recovery options are identified by all branches and that the customer impact and down line implications are considered in the decision making process
  • Acts as a change facilitator for process and procedural improvement
  • Ensures safety standards are consistently maintained
  • Implements and directs the strategic vision to drive improved station results
  • Ensures the alignment of corporate and station goals
  • Provides the necessary resources, tools, daily gating plans and communication strategies to optimize station performance
  • Communicates goals, objectives, expectations and performance targets
  • Builds high performing teams which communicate effectively within cross functional areas
  • Supports and recognizes team and individual success
  • Be pro active in supporting succession planning and management development
  • Promotes and manages a corporate culture of accountability and ownership
  • Participates in the development and enhancement of corporate and station initiatives
  • Fosters an effective business relationship with external providers
  • Interfaces with Network Planning, Corporate Scheduling, System Operations Control (SOC), GSE, and Maintenance to ensure alignment of schedule and operating plans.
  • Analyzes trends and statistics for performance efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Drives accountability for revenue enhancement and cost containment
  • Be recognized as a role model for leadership excellence
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with all governmental agencies, airport authorities and union representatives.
  • Seeks cost control to mitigate on going operational expenditures, to meet budgetary constraints and ensure added benefit when allocating funds for new initiatives.
  • Helps manages the delivery of third party contracts within the parameters of the negotiated service level agreements.
  • Responsible for local YHZ facilities management & development / Interface with CRE, IT, and HIAA as required.
  • Continually audits and monitors safety and operations.
  • Responsible for YHZ Station Operations Control Center (STOC) oversight.
  • Recognizes, evaluates, disciplines, coaches, motivates, and counsels personnel. Handles a diverse range of staffing issues.
  • Provides support to the Manager, Station Operations as required.

 

 

  • Completion of a Bachelors degree or academic equivalent is an asset
  • Must have a solid operational track record and knowledge of Airport Operations
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a Management related position
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours
  • Frequent travel required
  • Must demonstrate strong teamwork and conflict resolution skills
  • Recognized ability to work under pressure, handle stressful situations and maintain flexibility
  • Understanding of Federal Regulations (TC, COSH, CARS)
  • RAIC (or ability to obtain)
  • AVOP/DA (or ability to obtain)
