Invites applications for the position of: CUPE 2331 LIBRARY TECHNICIAN - SECONDARY BAND G $30.08 - $31.95 Start Date: Immediately

Location: Cardinal Carter CHS, Aurora Please note that long term assignments may end at any time and as per Article 8.01e of the CUPE 2331 Collective Agreement, upon the Manager of Human Resources becoming aware of the return to work of the permanent employee, supply employees placed into long term assignments will be given advance notice of the termination of such assignment.

REQUIREMENTS: -Library and Information Technician Diploma

-Basic cataloguing skills, with knowledge of Library of Congress and Unabridged Dewey, MARC records, and other search programs

-Competence in computer operations, particularly, automated library systems, CD-ROM products, library catalogues and online services

-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

-Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES : -Maintain circulation desk, prepare overdue notices, sign out books, shelve material; and monitor library materials being circulated

-Process books, Board and Ministry documents, and other library resources; verify cataloguing information; transfer marc records; assign appropriate library classification designations to the resources; use computer cataloguing program to produce catalogue cards

-Assist students and staff in researching information, and how to use the automated card catalogue and periodical indexes; prepare bibliographies for research classes and teachers as required; assist teachers in the selection of books and other instructional materials to supplement the instructional program

-Maintain and track inventory of audio-visual equipment

-Assist Principal and Teacher-Librarian with acquisitions; prepare requisitions; follow up on purchase orders and invoices; maintain inventory of library supplies

The above position is posted in accordance with CUPE 2331 Collective Agreement Article 12.01. The salary will be as per placement on the Salary Grid of the current CUPE 2331 Collective Agreement.Interested applicants may apply until the close of business on April 9, 2024.
