Invites applications for the position of: Manager of Human Resources Support Services

Exempt Level 7A (Salary $111,439 to $131,470 per annum)

Position Summary :

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Human Resources, the Manager of Human Resources Support Services expertly leads a team of HR professionals and provides guidance and support to non-teaching staff on a range of Human Resources activities that includes recruitment, performance management, staffing, terms and condition of employment and policies and procedures ensuring compliance to Collective Agreements.

Major Responsibilities : Manage, motivate and lead Human Resources professionals ensuring the team possesses the skills necessary to meet and exceed performance expectations of various Human Resources activities for non-teaching staff.

Lead the investigation and resolution of sensitive or complex complaints such as workplace harassment, sexual harassment or inappropriate employee behaviour and recommends disciplinary action ensuring compliance with applicable legislation as well as internal policies.

Expertly advises and supports managers and principals on Human Resources activities such as recruitment, staffing, performance management, collective agreements, terms of employment, policy interpretation, progressive discipline, organization design and terminations.

Actively participate in the planning, developing, implementing and evaluating human resources policies, programs and procedures for non-teaching staff.

Oversee the Boards job evaluation program for Exempt Non Union personnel.

Develop, coordinate and implement various HR related memos, documents, reports, guidelines and processes as they pertain to the Support Services unit.

Coordinate and participate and in Labour/Management meetings as well as participate and support collective bargaining process, grievance meetings and mediation/arbitrations as required.

Provide advice, guidance and assistance to non-teaching staff on interpretation and administration of collective agreements and personnel policies and programs.

Ensure compliance is strictly adhered to with regards to all relevant human resources related legislation.

Establish and maintain constructive communication and effective working relationships with Board stakeholders, including representatives OSSTF, CUPE Locals 1571, 2331 and sub locals and all Exempt employees.Qualifications and Experience : Advanced College Diploma or University Degree or equivalent with a focus in Human Resources or related discipline.

Currently working towards (or have completed) certification as a human resources professional designation.

5 - 7 years of progressive HR experience, ideally 4 years at a manager level with extensive knowledge of public sector, collective bargaining and collective agreement interpretation.

Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience using SAP.Skills and Competencies : Excellent leadership and ability to motivate teams and individuals to reach their full potential.

Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, discretion, diplomacy and confidentiality.

Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with unions, management and employees.

Excellent verbal, written, facilitation and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to be analytical, consultative and a confident decision maker.

Possess a thorough knowledge of applicable Human Resources legislation governing within a union setting with a commitment to researching and understanding best practices.
