We are excited to announce the Michif PreK program starting in Living Sky School Division, Fall 2024! We are looking for a Full Time Educational Assistant who loves children and is passionate about Mtis culture and a willing language learner. The program will be housed at St Vital Catholic School, a PreK to Grade 7 school in Battleford, SK. St. Vital School consists of 156 students and 20 staff. We pride ourselves in being connected to our families and community through our faith-based education in Kindergarten to Grade 7. We work hard to provide many opportunities for our students with band, choir, sports, and a variety of clubs. We have an active School Community Council that works hard with the school and community supporting school goals and initiatives and creating fun opportunities for families to engage with one another.Summary of Position

This posting is for Permanent Full-Time Educational Assistant Position at St. Vital commencing August 28th, 2024. Hours of work are 6 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Educational Assistants are an important part of the school team who promote engagement, participation and success of students. Educational Assistants support students in five key areas: providing personal care, life skills and experiences, academic assistance, communication, and behavioural support as required by students and directed by teachers.

This role is unique as it is in a brand new Michif PreK program. The Michif classrooms primary goal is to revitalize Mtis culture and language with three and four year old children through experiential and play-based learning, in partnership with Mtis Nation Saskatchewan.

Qualifications Minimum Grade 12 education with at least one (1) year relevant childcare experience

Post-secondary certificate from a recognized institution in Early Learning & Childcare, Youth Care Worker or equivalent program would be considered an asset

Preference may be given to an individual who speaks Michif or is a language learner and has familiarity with Mtis culture
