UPLANDS ELEMENTARY is hiring! We are seeking applicants, for a Learning Support Teacher (LST), to join our team of dedicated educators. Success in this role will require a specific set of knowledge, skills and abilities to support learners with diverse learning needs at Uplands Elementary. We serve approximately 400 students, ranging from pre-kindergarten to grade 6. Our educators are dedicated to every students success. In addition to quality learning opportunities. our students can be involved in many extra-curricular programs in the areas of athletics, academics and fine arts. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to share their own unique skills with the students. LSTs act as a support and resource for teachers . LSTs act as a support and resource for teachers. As an Elementary Learning Support Teacher at Uplands School, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of our elementary school students. You will work closely with classroom teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement strategies that meet the diverse learning needs of our students. An important component of the LST position will be to support the EAL community of students to become socially confident and academically ready. This role directly influences learners to develop in a way that will assist with building confidence, forming, and growing friendships, expressing oneself, and developing interests.

Job Duties: collaborate with teachers to identify students requiring additional supports;

collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized support plans (ISPs);

provide direct instruction/intervention to students in small group or one-on-one settings to support student learning achievement and well-being;

facilitate communication and collaboration between teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive support system for each student;

collaborate with all relevant partners, to provide coordinated and comprehensive support to students;

stay current on best practices and research in the field of special education and learning support;

utilize a variety of research-based instructional strategies and interventions to promote academic growth and social-emotional development;

support teachers to develop and implement engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to diverse learning needs;

maintain a positive and professional demeanor, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for the school community;

support staff in understanding and responding to student strengths and needs to improve student achievement and well-being; and

Experience working with elementary school students with diverse learning needs.

Experience in developing and implementing Individualized Support Plans (ISPs).

Demonstrated proficiency in providing instruction and classroom management skills.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Proficiency in utilizing research-based instructional strategies and interventions.

Able to analyze complex student needs and respond in innovative ways.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Education and Certifications: Bachelor of Education & valid Alberta Teaching Certificate Considered an asset but not a requirement : Masters degree in education or special education, experience, education, or training in teaching English as an additional language (EAL).
