This is a temporary assignment to start immediately with an end date not to exceed June 30th, 2024.

Under the supervision of the Boards Senior Manager, Social Work, Special Education Services, to provide social work services including working with school staff to identify and to help in removing obstacles that interfere with a students ability to learn and to meet with academic success. The Social Worker will be performing clinical assessments and counseling of individual students experiencing social/emotional/behavioural difficulties including supporting and intervention with their families, as appropriate; consultation and collaboration with school personnel and community agencies to provide for the wellbeing of students. The Social Worker will strive to enhance the academic success and social-emotional wellbeing of each student. The Social Worker will also serve as the School Attendance Counselor, focusing on understanding and addressing the wide range of factors that lead to non-attendance.

Qualifications / Experience Masters degree in social work or equivalent; registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers (RSW).

Successful related clinical experience including strong CBT and DBT skills.

Competency in group skills and individual counselling skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.

Experiences in working with a range of special education exceptionalities.

An understanding of assessment and evaluation procedures.

Capacity to engage members of diverse communities and skilled in a variety of consultation techniques, protocols, and strategies.This position is covered by the A.P.S.S.P Collective Agreement.
