HVAC TECHNICIAN

The Burnaby School District is recruiting for a FULL-TIME HVAC Technician. This position services, upgrades, installs, repairs and inspects heating and ventilation equipment.

A variety of pipefitting duties, including inspecting and cleaning boilers, roof top ventilation units, forced air units, cooling plants and associated equipment as well as calibrate and repair pneumatic and electronic controls and thermostats, including DDC systems are also pivotal functions of this position. This position works with computer software (programming and scheduling) for automated heating and ventilating systems as required.

Required Qualifications & Experience : Completion of Grade 12

Trades Qualification (TQ) in Steamfitting/Pipefitting trade or a TQ in a relevant trade

Gasfitters Certificate (Class B) [Class A is preferred]

Restricted electrical ticket is an asset

Four years related work experience as a Journeyman in HVAC service coupled with boiler maintenance and DDC/building automation experience is required

Valid B.C. Drivers License (Class 5)

Extensive knowledge of current techniques, methods, procedures and equipment applicable to the HVAC trade, plus knowledge of computerized control software and equipment is requiredWe are looking for a self-starter with an ability to organize daily tasks, work independently and as a member of a team. Demonstrated ability to work at the level of independence and with the degree of initiative appropriate to the position is also required.

This position is a 12-month, full-time (40-hours/week) position complete with a wage of $46.18/hour and a benefits package including paid vacation, paid sick days, dental and extended health benefits, life insurance, and pension.
