Learning Support Teacher, Division III and IV

Full Time Probationary

Canadian Rockies Public Schools is now accepting applications for a Full-Time Probationary Learning Support Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Canmore and Banff National Park are located one hour west of Calgary. Nestled in the scenic Rocky Mountains, our school division is surrounded by beautiful lakes, world-class parks and recreational areas, and an extensive all-season trail system.

Duties to include:

- Learning support responsibilities for the school.

- Supporting students, teachers and educational assistants in programming and sharing best practices of instruction for a variety of students.

- Teaching individuals and small groups of exceptional students.

- Collaborate and co-teach with colleagues.

- Coordinating Individual Program Plan (IPP) implementation with school teams, parents, and students.

- Working cooperatively with psychologists, teachers, therapists, and other outside agencies to coordinate the delivery of required assessments and programming to ensure successful integration of students within the school.

- Other duties as assigned by the principal.

- Understanding of and ability to apply outcome-based student assessment and evaluation practices.Qualifications:

- Current Alberta teaching certification (or be eligible).

- Completion of degree(s) in the area of Special Education (graduate level degrees would be preferred) or related field would be an asset.

- Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching.

- Strong communication skills.

- Proven experience in implementing positive behaviour supports for students.

- Strong literacy and numeracy background

- Ability to work well with others in a learning support role, teachers, educational assistants and consultants.

- Willing to work in any CRPS school.

- Experience with Alberta Education Coding/IPPs.

- Understanding of and ability to apply current best practices and Alberta Special Education standards.

- Competence with current educational technology applications.

- Level B assessment training would be an asset.

- Experience teaching English Second Language Learners would be an asset.

- Understands and applies principles of the Teaching Effectiveness Framework.Start Date: August 22, 2024
