DURATION:
Full Credit: Commencing July 2, 2024, and ending August 1, 2024, for a complete credit
OR
Half credit or Credit Recovery:
Session One: Commencing July 2, 2024, and ending July 17, 2024
Session Two: Commencing July 18, 2024, and ending August 1, 2024
(Teachers may apply to teach in one or both sessions)
Class content is to be uploaded by 8:30 a.m. Monday to Friday and teachers are expected to support students five hours each day inclusive of office hours. Classes will be delivered asynchronously.
Note: Courses will only run if qualified teachers are available, and a minimum class size can be established.REMUNERATION: $42.86 - subject to increase (inclusive of vacation and statutory pay, to a maximum of 115 hours for a full credit and prorated to half credit, and paid by timesheet).
55 hours: Half credits or credit recovery
110 hours: New Credit and Co-op LOCATION: Virtual using Brightspace, teachers have the option of working remotely or at East Ridge Community School.JOB DESCRIPTION:
The summer school program is committed to providing quality education for every student in a safe and caring learning environment. As a summer school teacher, you will provide leadership and direct teacher support to students enrolled in summer school courses. Teaching assignments will be available for a variety of Grade 9 to 12 courses (e.g., Grade 9 to 12 new credit and credit recovery, and co-op placements). Grade 9, 10, 11, and 12 courses will be offered virtually through the Ontario eLearning Consortium and may include students from across the district and province.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide instruction based on curriculum and support to students enrolled in secondary summer school course(s)
Assessment, evaluation, and reporting of student achievement in Aspen for summer school course
Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: A teacher in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers ASSETS: Sound philosophy of education and strong working knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum, Growing Success, Learning for All, and the School Effectiveness Framework
Experience using Office 365 and the Virtual Learning Environment Brightspace
Strong communication skills
An understanding of effective learning, teaching, and assessment strategies
Excellent leadership, and organizational skills JOB REQUIREMENTS: Eligible to work in Canada
Clean vulnerable sector police check
Access to reliable vehicle
