Masters degree, recognized by the College of Teachers, in counselling psychology or a related discipline with a focus on behaviour disorders and counselling

knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Educations current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as outlined in the Manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for Special Education Services, as it relates to behavior and mental health support

demonstrated ability to collect behavioural information and performing behavioural screening and/or assessments in order to complete Functional Behavioural Assessments

knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of CBIEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student, and district personnel

demonstrated experience and ability in being able to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of Level B Assessments including the WIAT, PPVT, Key Math and TOWL

demonstrated experience in and knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of special needs and learning disabilities

demonstrated commitment and experience in working collaboratively as part of a school counselling team

demonstrated commitment and experience in working collaboratively as part of the school-based team

demonstrated experience and commitment supporting students through various transitions

understanding of and demonstrated ability to fulfill the four roles of the counsellor as outlined in the Ministry of Education Policies, Procedures and Guidelines in regard to Behaviour Support and Mental Health in an elementary and middle school context

demonstrated ability and commitment to supporting classroom teachers with best practice in SEL at the elementary and middle school levels

demonstrated ability and commitment to working effectively with a child and youth care worker and a Inclusion Teacher at the elementary and middle school levels

demonstrated ability to provide consultation and leadership in the area of assessment and program adaptation and modification with students, teachers, parents, and other counsellors

a sound understanding of the pillars of middle school philosophy

knowledge of, and demonstrated application of strategies to support the goals as outline in the Indigenous Education Enhancement Agreement

demonstrated experience in monitoring student progress using student learning plans, individual education plans and ministry reports to support students at the elementary and middle school levels

demonstrated capacity to act as a case manager and support for students who are behaviourally at risk at the elementary and middle school levels

demonstrated experience in accessing community supports and services to support students and their families

demonstrated application and facilitation of small groups to address issues such as anxiety and depression

demonstrated ability to provide in-service education to teachers in the area of behaviour and mental health

willingness to work with and support Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
