Temporary Full-Time

Coquitlam School District invites applications from individuals for the temporary position of Electrician. As the third largest school district in the province, we are located within a 40-minute drive from downtown Vancouver. The school district has a population of 32,000 students with approximately 4400 teaching, administrative, managerial and support staff.

This position reports to the Manager of Maintenance and Trades Supervisor and is responsible for completing electrical tasks with minimum supervision.

Duties include: Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical services in buildings, including renovations and modifications.

Programs, monitors, and services lighting / heating systems.

Performing preventative maintenance on all electrical equipment such as fire alarms, security systems, etc.

Troubleshooting and repairing electrical / electronic equipment such as P.As, score clocks, fire alarms, security systems, etc.

Ordering related supplies and equipment.

Representing school district at government electrical inspections of sites.

Providing estimates and advice on electrical projects.

Supervising uncertified tradesmen when they are assigned to assist.

Reporting unsafe situations.

Keeping a detailed account of work performed for the computerized costing system.

Operating power and manual tools related to the job, such as computer, drills, meters, etc.

Other work as assigned in other classifications in times of emergency.Required Knowledge and Skills Electrical Trades Qualification Ticket (including proof of four-year apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.)

A valid B.C. class 5 drivers license. The successful candidate works 40 hours per week (7:00am to 3:30pm) $36.84 per hour + 16% in lieu of benefits. The successful applicant will complete two criminal record checks.
