We invite applications for the temporary position of: 0.50 FTE Grades 10-12 Online Learning Teacher Counsellor

Please note this temporary position will end on June 30, 2024 or upon return of the incumbent.

2 positionsNavigate secondary counsellors will: Counsel students for post-secondary opportunities as these relate to their graduation planning.

Liaise with secondary and post-secondary institutions where students are cross/dual- enrolled

Advise and register students within the current graduation program as well as 2005, 1995 and Adult Graduates

Keep accurate bursary and scholarship information and support the awards committee

Lead the coordination of provincial exam writing sessions that Navigate (NIDES) offers

Support and attend school based team meetings (Grade 8-12)

Maintain accurate student transcripts and records

The successful candidate will have:

Master's Degree in educational counselling, psychology or related field

Experience in counselling at the secondary level (8-12) Navigate teachers guide successful learning by providing personalized, distributed learning courses using diverse instructional technology. Navigate teachers commit to working online and face-to-face with students, colleagues and parents. Teachers actively research, develop and maintain advanced online curriculum and support blended instruction in classrooms, learning centres and tutorials. They teach in multi-age groups of students province wide & work on site at a Comox Valley School.

The successful candidate will demonstrate: Ability to create and manage on-line courses, assignments, assessments and resources incorporating current pedagogical frameworks (i.e. project based, personalized).

Ability to work with and provide tutorial support for students online and in person.

Ability to support students with course adaptations and I.E.P.s

Ability to utilize the following online tools: D2L (or equivalent online learning management system), MyEd, Seesaw, Mathletics, Learning A-Z, Zoom, Teams.

Experience and skills with Distributed Learning technology support, course design/development in D2L and Google Apps.

Experience and commitment to working collaboratively as part of a teacher team advancing methods in curriculum integration and personalized learning.

Experience with Student Learning Plans and parent co-facilitation.
