The role of the Indigenous Education Assistant is to support the learning, well-being, and success of Indigenous students in the school. The ideal candidate will have an existing connection to our local Indigenous communities; high regard for Indigenous peoples and culture; a willingness to learn about and engage with local Indigenous families and communities; and be a strong advocate for Indigenous students in our school district. The applicant must be comfortable communicating with learners' caregivers. Candidates will be interviewed for the positions; preference will be given to qualified applicants of Indigenous ancestry.
Qualifications: Secondary School graduation.
Previous experience in working with children.
Ability to organize work effectively.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
Ability to handle and maintain all information with a high degree of confidentiality.
Equivalent combination of training and experience.
Familiarity with Indigenous culture is an asset.
