This position reports to the District Principal of Early Learning, the Early Childhood Educator leads before and after school care and works collaboratively with the kindergarten teacher and other classroom staff in facilitating the seamless day and class transition for kindergarten and primary students. Once hired, a casual employee can view all internal postings for Term and Continuing positions and has the contractual right to post into vacancies to secure more consistent and/or guaranteed hours. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in providing a classroom environment that fosters the seamless transition between before and after school care and the kindergarten/primary classroom.

Plan, coordinate and lead a quality before and after school care program for students in collaboration with the classroom teacher.

Provide positive and effective communication when interacting with parents and/or caregivers and school personnel.

Assist with the planning, purchasing and maintenance of relevant equipment, supplies and materials.

Maintain statistics and reports as required by the department.

Maintain the confidentiality of personal, private, and sensitive information.

Perform other related duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Grade 12 graduation and completion of an Early Childhood Education diploma.

A minimum of 2 years of experience as an Early Childhood Educator in a licensed early years setting working with children between birth to age 5.

Possess and maintain a valid BC Early Childhood Educator License to Practice.

Possess and maintain a valid Emergency First Aid/CPR Certificate.

Knowledge of the Ministry of Education's Early Learning Framework.

Experience creating, organizing, and planning for an early learning program.

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) using tact, discretion, and professionalism.

Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

Physical ability to perform the required duties.
