opportunities for professional growth and development.The Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing will report to the Director, Learning Services. They will work directly with students who require assistance in their auditory, speech, language, academic, social and emotional development; build capacity of school-based teams that include classroom teachers, support teachers, and education assistants so they may use effective approaches to inclusive education of Deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind students in the classroom; coordinate and direct services of media captioner, classroom transcriber, Interpreter, Intervenor, Communication Facilitators, and Education Assistants.

School Board OfficeREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Graduate diploma or masters degree in education

of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing or equivalent,

Eligibility for certification by the Canadian

Association of Educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing,

Bachelor of Education (Elementary / Middle /

Secondary) degree, or equivalent training.

A valid Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate, or

in progress

A valid BC Driver's License and a reliable vehicle

for transportation during the workday,

Be able to philosophically and pedagogically meet

the needs of a broad range of students with varied hearing abilities and

varied communication modes,

The following skills would be considered assets;

experience with cochlear implants, experience working in an itinerant

teacher role, training in auditory-verbal techniques, ASL, classroom

teaching experience, experience in Deafblind Intervention.For your application to

A copy of the credential from the completion of a DHH program

Recent copy of your drivers abstract/history (obtained from ICBC)

of the platform to proceed with your application.PLEASE NOTE The starting annual salary for this School Teacher position ranges from $50,000 to $104,000, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
