We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team:

Assistant Accounting Administrator

Six (6) Month Term Assignment

Monday - Friday, 35 Hours per Week

ESP, Level 7: $48,803 to $62,947 Under the general direction of the Finance Officer, the Assistant Accounting Administrator is responsible for monitoring, receiving and analyzing accounts payable and general accounting data, while providing support to all schools and departments as well as assisting the Accounting Administrator with various accounting functions.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Ensures data integrity on the Finance Oracle Database as well as monitors general ledger accounts;

Verifies payments to vendors and accounts payable disbursements and produces preliminary and final cheque runs;

Maintains the Districts Special Purpose grants by recording, reconciling and accounting for revenues and expenses.

Liaise with staff of all levels to ensure grants are spent accordingly and fulfilling all required Ministry reporting requirements

Provides a high degree of service/support to schools/departments and the public and responds to written, electronic, telephone, school/departmental inquiries;

Assists with the Purchase and Travel Card Program;

Checks and reviews electronic payment files;

Monitors GST credit card rebates and validates and processes various interfaces. Qualifications Completion of a 2 year community college diploma in Business or related field, and a minimum of 5 years experience in a computerized educational financial environment; an equivalent combination of education and school board accounting experience is also considered.

Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures; financial/accounting methods.

Knowledge of computer applications including spreadsheets, word processing software;

Knowledge of accounting and financial systems, Centresuite (Pcard System) and electronic banking applications.

Proficient in the use of macro applications in Excel and Word.

Initiative and judgment skills required to identify and resolve problems and discrepancies and to interpret and apply District policies and procedures.

Research and analytical skills to locate, retrieve and produce reports/data/information.

Organization and time management skills to organize work and meet strict deadlines.

Interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills to effectively respond to inquiries, and be able to provide, explain or clarify information to Board personnel, contractors, suppliers and other external contacts.

Ability to use tact, diplomacy and discretion.

Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new financial applications in a rapidly changing electronic data environment.

Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision and in a team environment. Application Process Applications will be
