THE ROLE

This is skilled technical work involving the repair, maintenance, alteration, installation and network management work of a variety of computers and related electronic equipment and software for the School District. An employee of this class exercises considerable independent judgement and action in completing assignments, and works closely with School District staff on assigned projects. Oral and written assignments are received from a supervisor. Work performance is checked and reviewed in terms of conformance with required standards and effective services rendered.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS Considerable knowledge of the principles and operation of a wide variety of Apple and PC computers/devices and related electronic equipment.

Considerable knowledge of the methods and techniques of checking, testing, adjusting, repairing, maintaining, altering and installing computers and related electronic equipment.

Considerable knowledge of Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks including network systems and telecommunications.

Working knowledge of departmental functions, policies, practices and procedures.

Working knowledge of repairs and record keeping procedures.

Ability to perform skilled diagnostic, repair, maintenance, alteration and installation tasks on a variety of computers, devices and related electronic equipment.

Ability to perform a variety of skilled tasks with minimal supervision.

Ability to remain current with improvements and changes in technology.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with School District staff and others as required.

Skill in the use of electronic and other tools and equipment. DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of the 12th grade or equivalent, plus completion of a recognized two year diploma program in computer systems technology.

Minimum two years related experience as a computer system technician, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred to have completed Foundations Certificate in ITIL V4 (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), CompTIA A+ or equivalent (for Windows environment) and/or ACSP Apple Certified Support Professional 10.13 or higher (for Mac environment).

Required Licenses, Certificates and Registrations

Computer Systems Technology Diploma.

Valid Drivers License for the Province of British Columbia.

This is a unionized position and the current rate of pay is $34.30 per hour
