(35 hours/week until June 30, 2024)NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK

This is secretarial, administrative and clerical work entailing responsibility for providing support in a variety of areas for the Facilities and Planning Department. An employee in this class exercises considerable independence of judgement and action in performing the secretarial, administrative and clerical tasks. Standard procedures are followed with unusual or difficult problems referred to a supervisor for direction. The work requires the utmost accuracy and attention to detail and adherence to school district, government, and other regulations, policies and procedures. Work performance is reviewed for completeness, accuracy and conformance to departmental procedures.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS Thorough knowledge of the functions, regulations, policies and procedures governing departmental operations.

Thorough knowledge of computer and peripheral equipment and applicable software.

Considerable knowledge of generally accepted principles and practices as applied to the Facilities and Planning departments and the School District.

Considerable knowledge of generally accepted office procedures and practices.

Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, grammar and arithmetic.

Ability to use a computer and peripheral equipment and applicable software, to produce from copy, rough draft or general instruction a variety of material, including complex spreadsheets, and compose correspondence.

Ability to communicate and express ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to work effectively with staff, lease tenants and the public and officials in supplying assistance and information related to departmental operations.

Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and act with a high degree of independent judgement and action on a variety of matters.

Ability to work to meet strict deadlines.

Ability to operate a variety of office equipment.

Skill in keyboarding and the use of a computer and software applications.

Superior clerical aptitude.DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of the 12th grade supplemented by one year of post-secondary courses in business, accounting, computer operation and software and computerized accounting systems. Minimum three years related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

This is a unionized position and the current rate of pay is $31.74 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits.
