ICT Administrative Assistant 35 hrs/week WHO WE ARE

THE ROLE

This is complex work involving participation in and responsibility for secretarial, administrative, clerical and information technology support services. An employee of this class exercises considerable independence of judgement and action in dealing with a variety of matters. After initial instructions and orientation, the work is performed under direction in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Work performance is reviewed and evaluated to ensure conformance with established departmental practices and procedures, completeness and accuracy, and support services rendered. Employee exercises courtesy, diplomacy and problem-solving abilities in explaining and interpreting departmental practices and regulations and in supplying information, technical support and assistance to staff and the public.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS Thorough knowledge of computer operation and software applications as related to the work.

Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations and policies governing departmental operations.

Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic.

Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.

Ability to use a computer and software applications to prepare, maintain and produce assignments in accordance with departmental methods and procedures.

Performs secretarial and administrative duties, answers and processes telephone inquiries; interviews callers; makes and cancel appointments, processes incoming and outgoing mail; arranges meeting as required.

Provides information, technical support and assistance to staff, over the phone, in email and in person as requested.

Utilizes a computer and software application to enter, format, edit, process, store, recall, revise, merge and print technical and complex reports and memorandum, amendments, minutes, tabulations, documents and related material.Produces correspondence and other materials from copy, rough draft and general instruction.Composes non-routine materials and correspondence.

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT Ability to supply information, technical support and assistance to staff and the public.

Ability to remain current with improvements and changes in software.

Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of departmental records and data and perform clerical assignments with minimal supervision.

Skill in the use of a computer and software applications and general office equipment.

Superior clerical and technical aptitude. DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of the 12th grade or equivalent plus basic first aid, including courses in keyboarding, computer and software applications and commercial subjects. Six months related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

This is a unionized position and the current rate of pay is $30.81 per hour. Additionally, employees who have successfully completed the prescribed probationary period are entitled to benefits as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
