Grade 5 Teacher (Full-Time 1.0) The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is a First Nation Education Authority serving the three Denesuline First Nations communities in northern Saskatchewan; Black Lake First Nation, Hatchet Lake First Nation, and Fond Du Lac First Nation. The Authority serves a total student population of approximately 1,300+ students. The Authority is working toward improved educational outcomes by utilizing the latest technology, progressively piloting programs, and integrating Denesuline culture into the classroom and school curriculum. This competition is open to all applicants who reside in Canada; and preference will be given to First Nation or other Indigenous applicants who possess the qualifications, knowledge, and skills to meet the minimum suitability requirements as stated for the position.The ADEA is seeking a competent, confident, motivated individual to fill the position of a full time, permanent Grade 5 Teacher at Father Megret Elementary School (FMES), located at Hatchet Lake, Saskatchewan. FMES is a Pre-K to Grade 5 facility with a student population of 200+, and a strong group of professional and paraprofessional staff.Opportunity:

This position reports to the Principal and/or Vice Principal of the school. The Teacher has responsibilities with respect to the quality of learning experience; shall co-operate with colleagues and administrative authorities in advancing the educational standard and efficiency levels of the school; and participate in educational planning by the staff and band, and in regular advancement of their personal professional competence.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Create and maintain a learning environment that encourages and supports the growth of the whole student.

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Education or equivalent

Must be eligible for or posses a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate.

Related training or experience in the field of education would be a definite asset.

Experience in teaching First Nations students at the primary level is an asset.

To strive to meet the diverse needs of students by designing the most appropriate learning experiences for them.

To demonstrate and support a repertoire of instructional strategies and methods that is applied in teaching activities.

To develop teaching practices that recognize and accommodate diversity within the classroom, the school, and the community.

To implement the provincial curriculum conscientiously and diligently, considering the context for teaching and learning provided by students, the school and the community.

Establish clear instructional direction to support a positive learning climate in the context of the Denesuline culture and language.

Actively engage with families, children, and community members to understand their backgrounds and experiences to support an equitable and inclusive school environment.

Participate in extra-curricular activities including required programs as needed throughout year to best serve students and community.

Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with ADEA initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.

Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents and community.

Act in a professional and ethical manner and always adhere to the Code of Ethics Professional Conduct.

Maintain confidentiality of students and other professional information, comply with ADEA policies, procedures, and programs, and support school improvement initiatives.
