EIPS is recruiting two temporary full-time Reading Enrichment and Development (READ) Teachers with our Support for Students department.
Supports for Students is located at the EIPS Central Administration building in Sherwood Park, at 683 Wye Road. Providing services for the division, Central administration is comprised of eight departments, in addition to the Board of Trustees. The departments include Education Executive, Communication Services, Facility Services, Student Transportation, Human Resources, Financial Services, Supports for Students, and Information Technologies.
SFS is looking for two teachers to expand the READ program to elementary schools across the Division. The READ program is an intensive intervention program designed to provide direct support to Grade 2 students identified as having reading disabilities. Travel will be required. Teachers will work with groups of students or one-on-one providing intensive intervention instruction over a specified time.
Teachers will provide information and support to classroom teachers, administrators and parents throughout the intervention timeline.
Students will be instructed based on the Five Pillars of Reading and will be given explicit, systematic teaching that meets their individual needs.
Students will also be provided with strategies to use outside of intervention programming to help support their learning in everyday classroom activities.
Careful data collection, anecdotal notes and record keeping will be collected to determine the programs success.Successful applicants who are continuous teachers will be able to return to their current school/position for the 2025-26 school year. Commencing August 27, 2024

Open to internal applicants Qualifications: Bachelor of Education degree
Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
Experience and knowledge of literacy best practices in Division 1
Participation in Early Literacy Initiative Level 1 and Level 2 an asset
Effective organization and time management skills
Knowledge of strong literacy instructional strategies and differentiation
Excellent verbal and written skills
Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice
