Upcoming Assistant Principalship Opportunities:

We are inviting candidates to apply to be an Assistant Principal in Parkland School Division. Shortlisted candidates will be placed in an Assistant Principal Pool from which we will fill any current or future vacancies for the 2024-2025 school year.

Parkland School Division typically assigns assistant principals to a specific location for 3-5 years. To promote personal, school and system growth Assistant Principals are frequently assigned a new school following their initial placement. As a result, a number of Assistant Principal openings have not yet been determined. Successful candidates will be placed in the Assistant Principal pool to fill any current or future vacancies at any of our schools. Final determinations will be made in consultation with successful candidates.

Our Current Vacancies:

(1) Woodhaven Middle School - will be an additional Assistant Principal position for this school.

Location of the Assistant Principal position(s) will be added to the posting once confirmed.

As an Assistant Principal, your primary responsibilities will include: Demonstrating creative, visionary leadership that assists our school communities to provide meaningful, relevant educational opportunities for our 21st century learners.

Providing instructional leadership to our teaching teams to support the continued development of engaging learning environments for students, which includes effective assessment practices and activities which support student growth.

Collaborating with staff, students, parents and administrative teams to plan for the delivery of quality programs that are responsive to students.

Managing and organizing school routines and procedures that ensure a safe and caring school community.

Working as a member of the administrative team to maintain a positive school culture and a sense of community.We are seeking bold, innovative instructional leaders who possess: A strong commitment to fostering a positive school climate and motivating colleagues to achieve school and Divisional goals.

Demonstrated experience in team oriented school leadership, professional learning communities, and a master teacher with demonstrated excellence in literacy and numeracy.

Demonstrated excellence in collaborative leadership.

The ability to build strong relationships and a track record of excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

A commitment to excellence in education and a commitment to professional growth.

A deep understanding of students needs, and how to support our diverse community of learners.

A willingness to learn new technology skills and applications, which support administrative and instructional functions.This position requires a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and a child intervention record check.

Completion of a Masters Degree in Education or pursuing a Masters in Education is an asset. Valid Alberta Teacher Certification is required.
