With a staff of 14,000, the Toronto Catholic is a dynamic school board and is seeking a full time Project Manager.
CRITERIA FOR INTERVIEW: University Degree in any information technology or business-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of two (2) years of work experience managing various projects in information technology or business environment
Completion of a professional certification such as PMP would be an asset
Knowledge and experience with various project management frameworks and methodologies
Sound foundational knowledge of IT infrastructure and architecture, hardware and software, cloud-based applications, services, and cybersecurity
Ability to balance distinct roles of that of a project manager and technical advisor and to effectively communicate with various stakeholders in both technical and non-technical terms
Possesses excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrate the ability to effectively manage and lead projects and teams and work with multiple stakeholders
Capable of analyzing complex business problems, proposing effective solutions, and understanding applying business vision and direction
Possesses excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills and an ability to deal with potential problems before they escalate
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to and under the direction of the Senior Manager, ICT Project Portfolio Management, this exciting opportunity will be responsible for the management of technology projects for various departments and divisions. The Project Manager will work collaboratively with cross-functional and integrated teams. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Manage projects and support the project portfolio management by ensuring that projects are strategically and operationally aligned with overall objectives and goals
Regularly liaise with various teams and department heads to glean new and emerging projects while defining key business requirements and supporting them through the project intake and approval process.
Carry out all primary project management duties including ideation and intake, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing; produce and carry out project documentation, coordinating meetings, meeting minutes, team task management, project communications, presentations, and reporting
Monitor project scope and conduct periodic project reviews, identify issues, manage the change request process, and determine project impact including budget while providing progress updates to key project stakeholders
When needed, and in consultation with the project sponsor and Senior Manager, perform additional tasks such as logistics, training materials, communications, etc.
Coach teams and mentor individuals through the analysis, design, and development of project management processes
Develop and deliver ongoing project management training and best practices to the ICT division for adoption and implementation
Continually review and improve project management processes, methods, approaches, and tools
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned or required
