The Opportunity:

Branksome Hall is seeking an experienced Library Technician to provide administrative and technical support within the Senior School Resource Centre while creating a warm and inclusive environment for students and building a caring rapport with them. The Library Technician will ensure the library is operating and functioning effectively, cataloguing print materials and making cataloguing decisions collaboratively, maintaining and managing the digital collections while also promoting the displays of the Resource Centre.

Reporting to the Assistant Head, Academics, and working in close collaboration with the Resource Centre team, the successful candidate will provide supervision to the students using the Resource Centre, monitoring behaviour and conduct as well as providing guidance in their selections.

This role follows the academic calendar (September - June) with the hours being either 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 7:30 to 3:30 p.m. to provide adequate coverage in the Resource Centre.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Managing circulation, preparing and sending overdue notices and student charges, shelving resources;

Troubleshooting, providing support and answering questions for faculty, staff and students with regards to reference and library technology;

Performing all original cataloguing and downloading of records from Alliance Plus with assistance from the Library Coordinator;

Checking in and monitoring magazine subscriptions, materials, etc.;

Placing and following up on orders as required to assist the Library Coordinator and the Resource Centre team;

Performing inventory and shelf reading;

Supervising and monitoring behaviour and comportment of students working in the library;

Liaising with internal and external stakeholders;

Candidate Profile

As the ideal candidate you hold a Library Technician Diploma or equivalent in training and experience. You will also have at a minimum 1 - 2 years of related experience and should you have experience in an educational institute, that would be considered as an asset. Equivalent combinations of training and experience will be considered.

Tech savvy, collaborative, highly adaptable and organized, you thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment that is mission-driven, and values based. With a keen eye to detail, you have the knowledge and understanding of standard library procedures including basic reference and cataloguing skills using the Dewey Decimal system and Sears Subject Headings. The successful candidate will bring an understanding of the philosophy of the school resource centre as a classroom and place of learning rather than solely as a reference library.

You have experience with integrated library systems as well as knowledge of and familiarity working with on-line databases and information access methods. The incumbent will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high level of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism. The Technician will be results driven with a positive,can-do approach to solving problems. Strong technology skills, as well as proficiency in MS office applications and Google Suite complete your profile.Target Hiring Range: $45,100 - $56,300 (prorated based on 10-month calendar year)How to Apply:
