Position: Program Coordinator Position

Status: Full-Time Permanent Schedule: 8:00 am 3:30 pm

Reporting to: Education Director Salary Range: 30.00 40.00 per hourPurpose of the Position: The Neskonlith Education Program Coordinator is responsible for implementing, recruitment and employment support for the Neskonlith Band post-secondary programs, on behalf of the Education Department.Responsibilities Provides for effective support services. Provides resources for employment when needed;

Ensures student recruitment provided for Neskonlith members;

Helping students improve confidence and self-esteem by listening to them and devising appropriate strategies to support them;

Ensure any employment matters are handled in a timely manner and reported as per the personnel policy.

Provides effective planning and management. Ensures an effective planning and schedule of days is developed;

Ensures a resource list is available to access for program support;

Performs general administrative duties that may be required related to support funding for program participants (screening, interview set up and submitting qualifying applicants for necessary interviews) and submitting a list to the Education Director.

Maintain effective administrative procedures: Identifies program services and files;

Organizing, maintaining files on each program participant under the direction of the Education Director;

Identifies community need through an assessment process for future training services;

Ensures any reports, grants or proposals are assessed and/or reviewed through the Education Director;

Ensures responsible, authorized access and control over client files/information;

Provides recommendations for, and assist as requested, in all areas of the Education Team;

Working with the local College/Universities to ensure all program support is being met for students within the Neskonlith Education Department. General Attends meetings as required;

Ensures open and ongoing communications with Neskonlith Education Center, Neskonlith Education Department and Administration;

Keeps the Education Director informed of sensitive and important issues and events affecting the operation of the programs;

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the policies, standards and procedures, and as directed by the Director of Education;

Works as a team member with other employees and committee members;

Perform other duties as needed to further your position with the education team and within the limitations of the education department.

Education and Experience: Minimum First Year Post Secondary Education and/or experience in academic counselling;

Experience with employment resources and counselling;

Experience with Tutoring academic support; First Nations relations;

Equivalent combination of education, training and supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of: Current social issues that affect First Nations people and communities;

Human relation services to access;

Neskonlith community, culture and Secwepemc values

Skills and Abilities Excellent interpersonal, listening and problem solving skills;

Excellent communication skills;

Ability to work effectively with students & other stakeholders;

Strong computer skills;

Ability to conduct research and manage statistics.

Personal Attributes Acceptable and current RCMP Criminal Record Check (original);

Have and maintain a valid BC drivers licence as a condition of employment and have access to a reliable vehicle;

Travel as required;

Demonstrated practice of confidentiality.
