Maria Montessori Academy is an independent school in Victoria offering dynamic, hands-on learning to students from Preschool to Grade 12. This is a community based school boasting low student/teacher ratios and an all-around excellent working environment.

We are seeking a BC Certified Teacher for our Senior School in our PE Department as Outdoor Education Coordinator and Teacher. This is a .8 position, commencing in September 2024. The successful candidate will coordinate our school wide Outdoor Education program, with an emphasis on grades 7-12. It is an excellent opportunity to be part of a collaborative, responsive and meaningful teaching team. The successful candidate must be available for overnight trips throughout the school year and has the ability to facilitate and plan rigorous, physical trips as well as participate on rigorous, physical trips.

The ideal candidate has/is:

- Successful experience working outdoors with youth

- Detail oriented with an eye towards Risk Management

- Experience with team-teaching

- Excellent communication skills with both adolescents and adults

- Organized and reliable

- Certifications relevant to Outdoor Education

- Certified in Wilderness First Aid

- The desire to be creative in their planning and confident in implementing student centered lessons.
