Maria Montessori Academy is an independent school in Victoria offering dynamic, hands-on learning to students from Preschool to Grade 12. This is a community based school boasting low student/teacher ratios and an all-around excellent working environment.

We are seeking a full time BC teacher to join our Lower Elementary team beginning September 2024. This specific posting is for a well-established Lower Elementary (grades 1-3) classroom of 23 students.

Montessori training and/or experience is an asset, but please do not hesitate to apply if you think you might be a good fit.

The classroom teacher should be a forward-thinking educator and is expected to deliver lessons from across the curriculum, following both the provincial and Montessori curricula; while maintaining a safe, caring, and inclusive classroom environment.

Desired qualities in a candidate are:

*Elementary Montessori accreditation

*BC Teacher Certification

* Current First Aid & CPR-C

* Successful experience working with and understanding students of this age group

* Excellent communication skills with students, their parents, and colleagues

* Being organized, punctual, and reliable

*Invested in professional development and furthering their own learning as a professional

*Interested in working collaboratively with classroom assistants and other teachers

*Excited about participating in extracurricular activities
