The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities. To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $210 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff which includes teachers, principals and vice-principals, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.

The Greater Victoria School District (SD61) is seeking a Systems Analyst. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Systems Analysts responsibility is to standardize technology across school sites within the Greater Victoria School District. Duties include the provision of consulting services to schools regarding server pool design and other projects. This position requires constant review and evaluation of server hardware and operating systems, negotiations with vendors, setup and configuration of server images, and the provision of escalated technical support to technologists. In consultation with the Director, this position will set protocols, regulations and standards for technology use in the schools.

An extensive knowledge of technology is required relating to server and workstation hardware, as well as an extremely high level of competency with operating systems that include Windows, MacOS, UNIX, Linux, and NetWare. Minimum requirements include a B.Sc. in computer science or related discipline, MCSE, and four to six years demonstrated experience with server design, setup, and support. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential.

This position falls within the CUPE collective agreement and has a pay rate of $41.87 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefits package after successful completion of probation, 35 hrs/ week, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm.
