ENERGY SPECIALIST
ONE POSITION FOR THE FACILITIES DEPARTMENT.FORTY HOURS PER WEEK. TWELVE MONTHS PER YEAR.

DUTIES TO COMMENCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Secondary school graduation or equivalent
Sustainable Energy Management Associate Certificate (SEMAC) or equivalent
Minimum two years of related experience in the field
Comprehensive knowledge of building mechanical and electrical systems including broad knowledge of automation systems
Demonstratable knowledge and experience with energy efficient technology related to lighting systems, HVAC systems, cooling plant equipment, heating plant equipment and control systems
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office with ability to form emails (Outlook), create documents and presentation (Word/PowerPoint), manipulate data (Excel) as well as navigate the internet and use web-based applications

Implements and manages a utility management software program focused on utility performance management and future upgrade/project identification
Completes annual Carbon Neutral Government reporting on behalf of the School District
Monitors and troubleshoots Direct Digital Controls (DDC) from a variety of vendors
Collects energy consumption data from utilities and benchmarks energy performance of buildings and fleet
Prepares quarterly energy update reports with a focus on energy consumption and costs, energy breakdown, baseline energy use, and projected savings/reductions of future capital energy upgrade projects
Monitors DDC systems and works with District Mechanical Department in scheduling and controlling systems to perform efficiently
Works closely with Facilities Management on project identification and scope for minor capital upgrades
Develops case study reports, business cases, grant applications and communication material related to energy reduction and sustainability projects
Provides technical assistance to other district staff, including management
Communicates and coordinates with external stakeholders including contractors and consultants
Performs other related duties as time permits and/or assigned as required
