MUSIC TEACHER

Part-time (0.6 FTE) Term position

Effective September 3, 2024 until June 30, 2025

The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $50,000 to $104,000, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE. Required Qualifications and Experience Overall, the successful candidate will demonstrate: A clear understanding and demonstrated ability to incorporate the tenants of care, reflection, inquiry, and digital literacy in teaching and learning.

A clear understanding of the components of professional practice including planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities.

Ability to speak French is preferred but not required.

In particular, the successful candidate will demonstrate: A clear understanding of the characteristics of students in the elementary grade levels and the ability to develop a positive learning environment inclusive of individual intellectual, physical and emotional needs of this age group.

Knowledge and experience in working with students with diverse needs and support staff with a focus on UDL in the classroom and demonstrated ability to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners through a broad array of teaching strategies.

Proven ability and experience in teaching, assessing and planning a Fine Arts program building on the goals and outcomes of the Ministry Instructional Resource packages; familiarity with the draft Arts Education curriculum.

Experience in delivering a comprehensive developmental Music Program for Grades K-7.

Experience accompanying and leading choral groups.

Knowledge and willingness to use an inquiry-based approach to planning and teaching.

Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills and proven ability, commitment and drive to work co-operatively and effectively with other educators in a collaborative team setting.

Extensive knowledge and experience in digital access and the ability to integrate technology into the curriculum.

Experience utilizing strategies of self-regulation to support social-emotional learning.

The ability to use formative assessment practices to improve student achievement with emphasis on the Performance Standards and the ability to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods.

A classroom management style that focuses on structure, mutual respect, natural consequences, consistency and positive reinforcement.
