The Position:

Garden Valley School Division invites applications for the position of Vice Principal / Resource Teacher at Winkler Elementary School effective September 3, 2024.

The Superintendent and School Board seek a vice principal with a demonstrated commitment to the Boards philosophy of education, an understanding of early & middle years school philosophy, and a desire to lead a caring and stimulating school learning community. The vice principal will provide overall school administration, instructional leadership, innovation, supervision, planning and evaluation in collaboration with a dedicated staff committed to offering an extensive range of high-quality courses and programs.

Qualifications and Experience: A Bachelor of Education Degree

Hold, or be eligible to hold, a Manitoba Teaching Certificate

A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience

Hold, or be eligible to hold, a Manitoba Certificate in School Leadership or working towards

Preferably a Master of Education Degree or Post-Baccalaureate in administration or curriculum, or other relevant field

Demonstrated collaborative leadership with skills in school administration, program development/implementation, supervision, educational research and fiscal management.

Ability to relate to the school community and the community value base. Winkler Elementary School (WES) is a K-8 school in the heart of Winkler with a student population of 401 students, a teaching staff of 27 and support staff of 21. WES offers a full range of academic programs including Middle Years Exploratory courses that include Home Economics and Industrial Arts. Second language instruction begins in grade 5 with French and German as options. In addition, the school has a band program that starts in grade five. Students in grades 7 and 8 have opportunities for a wide range of extra-curricular sports programs that include soccer, basketball, volleyball, track, badminton and cross country. The school is particularly noted for its vocal and instrumental extra-curricular jazz groups.
