What can I expect from this role?
The Senior Recreational Programs Assistant (RPA) will deliver a variety of science-based Recreational Programs including Summer, P.A. Day and Holiday Camps, Sleepovers and Birthday Parties, geared towards children ages 4-14 years and at times, their accompanying adult chaperones. As a Senior RPA you will be required to work well independently and as part of a team to deliver science and recreational activities and demonstrations in a safe, organized and engaging manner. You will greet, guide, and supervise program participants in various group sizes, and must be able to effectively respond to participant needs in order to ensure customer satisfaction. Furthermore, you will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and cleaning up program delivery spaces and supply inventory, in addition to offering support to the coordination of recreational programs as assigned by the department Supervisors or Manager.
Please note that these positions are irregular/on-call with no guarantee of hours, and may include evening, overnight, weekend and statutory holiday work. Peak program times vary throughout the year.

Salary Range: $18.88 - $21.96 per hour
You will be responsible for obtaining the criminal record check at your own expense and provide it, along with your written consent, to the Transition and Security Office (TSO), HR Service Delivery Division to evaluate the results. If applicable, the TSO, with your written consent, will request and obtain any additional screening checks as indicated in the Additional Information / Address section above that were not obtained directly by you. (Note: If a Vulnerable Sector Screening/Check is required, it must also be obtained in person at your local police service.)
A record under the Criminal Code and/or other federal offence record(s) does not automatically mean you will be ineligible for the position. The screening check(s) will only be reviewed and evaluated by the TSO for the purpose of making a security clearance decision. The details of an individual's screening check(s) will be considered in specific relation to the duties and responsibilities of the position being filled.
