Responsible for verification and processing of accounts payable for all Board locations in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards, internal controls, audit requirements, broader public sector guidelines, Canada Revenue Agency regulations and Board policies and procedures.

Major Responsibilities : To process payments by preparing, sorting, reconciling, verifying and balancing all documents such as invoices, petty cash, travel and conference expenses and cheque requisitions.

To liaise with suppliers, schools and departments for the purpose of problem solving, concentrating on sufficient support documentation for audit requirements and authorization of payments.

To provide direction and/or guidance to Board employees in regards to understanding, interpretation and utilization of budget reports, transaction reports and general ledger account numbers.

To maintain and reconcile various records, files, monthly vendor statements, and petty cash.

To create and maintain vendor database in coordination with other departments.

To ensure compliance with tax rules and regulations, technical standards, appropriateness and conformity to Board policies and procedures.

To create, verify and distribute computer generated reports as requested by end users.

To coordinate incoming data, schedule computer file updating, analyze and resolve error conditions, schedule, prepare and balance manual rush cheques and other cheque runs.

To work as an active member of the Accounting Services team.

To sort and distribute internal and external mail.

To provide support, cross training and assistance for other accounting staff as required.

To attend meetings as required.

To attend professional development sessions/training as required.

To perform other duties as assigned.

Line of Responsibility:

Responsible to the Associate Manager, Accounting Services. Accepts direction from the Supervisor of Accounting Services and/or Senior Accounting Representative.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications: Secondary School Graduation Diploma with one year of post-secondary education focusing on accounting practices is required.

Minimum two years related experience is required.

A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and current Board approved/implemented software is required. Excellent keyboarding skills and proficient use of office equipment is required.
