The National Risk Management team works out of BDOs brand new National office building and supports offices, partners and clients in various locations across the country. The National Risk Management team helps BDO deliver quality work in an ethical manner. We ensure all members of the Firm are aware of risks that can impact both the Firm and our clients, and we administer processes and guidance to control those risks. Whether identifying steps to improve file quality, monitoring our quality control systems, or safeguarding against client risks to the Firm, our team offers a well-rounded working experience. As a student in the National Risk Management Department, your role will provide variety and continual learning such as:

  • Assist in the management of the Quality Assurance Review (QAR) Program for major lines of business of the Firm, including analyzing and reporting the results to the Policy Board
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of effective risk management training programs for Partners and staff
  • Assist in annual or ad-hoc reporting to external regulators and assist in monitoring the implementation of any recommendations, requirements or restrictions issued by these regulators
  • Assist in the Annual Declaration of Independence process and the related follow up
  • Maintain the practice offices Provincial Practice Inspections Reports and assist in analyzing and reporting the results to Senior Management
  • Perform other research projects related to Risk Management as required

 Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

  • Working towards a business related degree
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
