Industrial Millwright

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Department: Engineering/Maintenance Department

Shift: Must be available for both day and afternoon shifts

Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Millwright will be responsible for installing, inspecting, adjusting and repairing equipment while following safety rules and regulations. The Industrial Millwright will have experience with electrical duties and electrical certification would be considered an asset. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Reading diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Installing stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools
  • Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Adjusting machinery and repairing or replacing defective parts.
  • Operating machine tools, such as lathes and grinders, to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set up of machinery.
  • Operating hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
  • Sharpen and maintain machine tools
  • Participate in the PM program on all machine tools for continuous improvement of all tooling
  • Develop equipment maintenance schedules
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
  • Participate in the PM program on all machine tools for continuous improvement of all tooling
  • Cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Assembling machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance tasks on Sieman and KUKA Robotics

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, machining, mills and lathe
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Computer applications including Microsoft Office skills and math skills sufficient to perform department related tasks are required
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors as a Quality Focused, Service Oriented Team Player.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and hydraulic systems sufficient to diagnose and repair machines
  • Communication skills to communicate and interact with all levels of employees
  • Strong team player with aptitude for continuous improvement
  • Commitment to following all plant safety and quality procedures

Education/Experience

  • An Ontario trades Certificate of Qualification Certification required
  • 3-5 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Fast paced environment, must be able to work under pressure
  • Member of the Ontario College of Trades or eligible to register
  • Able to work well under pressure with a strong attention to detail
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must have experience with Siemens and KUKA robotics
